The story of Nymphaus.

Posted by qmodder - September 1st, 2022

Nymphaus was a cleric of the medieval era. She was famous for her healing powers and herbal knowledge. People admired her, bringing her gifts, as a token of appreciation. One of the gifts that she loved dearly, was a bouquet of Lilies. Those lilies reminds her of her long deceased mother. It's unfortunate how she's the only one left in her lineage, the others either died of disease, war or famine. Though she's respected by the local citizen, she felt lonely. In what she calls her home, a roofed shed, lies a picture of her father, once a great warrior, now left to rot on a deserted island. Nymphaus brings joy to the people, but she can't find joy for herself. At times she questioned if she really matters, and will anything change if she simply... vanish.

Her question would be answered shortly, as a war was waged against the nobility, led by starving farmers of a faraway land. They razed everything on their path, burned every noble's property to the ground, and there seem to be no sign of them stopping anytime soon. Approaching Nymphaus's village, the mob rushes through the buildings. Seeing this, Nymphaus ran for her life. As the mob gets closer and closer, with her stamina running low, it's surely her demise. All of a sudden, a ball of light appeared, blinding the mob. Nymphaus, confused about what's happening, gets dragged down to the ground by the mystical being. Eventually, she and the ball dropped onto a floating island, covered with blood red dirt and stalactites forming out of the ground.

-I'm sorry for the sudden action, may I get you up?

-What.. are you?

-I'm The Element Master, I am the one above the sky.

-Am I dead? And why did you bring me here?

-For once, you're perfectly alive, but the former, I'll tell you later.

Nymphaus wandered the island, meeting beings that she've never seen before, a living goop of green mass, a walking stone and a fire-blowing creature. They acted friendly towards her. Nymphaus thought to herself: "It's sure refreshing!"

Time passed by, surviving on luxurious foods Nymphaus's mind start to wander, questioning if this "Element Master" is truly god or not, and what lies under this floating island. In her perspective, Element Master is a supportive entity, ensuring the island's life and it's existence. The only thing that's bothering her is that no one except her and him are in here. And soon enough, conflicts start to arise.

Time painfully passed by, and the Element Master have had enough. Freezing Nymphaus's body, he casted a petrifying spell, turning her into a statue made out of Lapis Lazuli. After dispatching her, he dropped the statue off the island. It might seem that Nymphaus's life is over, but something still persist. After falling for what seems an eternity, the statue finally landed on a farm.

Lia is just an ordinary European farmer, running low on money and on the verge of starvation as the drought continues. Seeing a strange statue on her farm, she called the church. After some inspections, she was arrested for having stolen national treasure. The ocean-blue statue was placed inside a large church. With it's addition, the church starts to attract more people. They placed their beliefs on the statue, and good luck will come to those worshiped the statue. The people are happy once again, just before another tragedy struck. A worldwide conflict swept through the globe, and the large church was affected heavily. Being bombed and raided, the statue have gone missing.

What seems to be a dead Nymphaus, wakes up in a cavern full of crystals. She can not move, or hear anything, in her vision, she saw a patch of crystals, resembling flowers. Taking a closer look at them, she can see the events that have happened after her death. In a state like this, she can only wait. But for how long? She doesn't even know. What's certain though, is that these crystal flowers are what keeps her entertained.

Through time will she stay in this lone cave, abandoned and isolated.
